2020 Student Board Positions

**Note: you can be a part of the greater Student Board without applying to be a director!

Student Board Chair

The Student Board Chair will call, lead, and adjourn all meetings. They will also have individual meetings with the CEO to plan and envision future endeavors for GoYogi. The Student Board Chair will also be in charge of handling all the miscellaneous tasks that come with organizing the GoYogi events. They will work very closely with the CEO and will be trained in leading meetings when the CEO is not present. Individuals with good management and leadership skills are highly valued.

Director of Advocacy and Policy

The Director of Advocacy and Policy is responsible for leading the GoYogi Policy Team, working with senators and legal experts to develop policy proposals, and leading policy research and proposal writing. We are seeking individuals with great policy researching skills, writing skills, and experience with legal policy.

Other Student Board Positions:

Policy Team (3-4 positions available):

Members on this team will work on policy research, drafting policy proposals, and working with senators and legal experts to develop tangible solutions related to mental health education.

Blog Manager (1 position available): 

This individual will be the main leader for the GoYogi blog. This position includes the responsibility of recruiting blog writers and organizing blog assignments and posts.

Website Manager (1 position available): 

This individual will be essential for creating and updating the GoYogi website. This position includes the responsibility of website content creation, working with the blog manager, and designing the web platform to reflect GoYogi’s activities and events.

Graphic Designers (3 positions available):

These individuals will work on digital design platforms such as Canva or Photoshop to create social media content. They will work with the Director of Public Relations in order to publish their work on all GoYogi platforms.

Photo/Video Editor (2 positions available):

These individuals have the responsibility of taking photos at GoYogi events, video editing, and working with the Publications Team to create content reflecting GoYogi’s events.

Press Release Officer (1 positions available):

This individual will be responsible for writing and creating media releases and reaching out to media outlets and networks to publicize GoYogi and the work that the Student Board is doing. 

Director of Interpersonal Connections

The Director of Interpersonal Connections is responsible for organizing internal affairs and coordinating meetings. Responsibilities include facilitating communication between the members of the Student Board and ensuring that their duties are completed on time and with quality. This person will create and distribute an agenda for each meeting and work closely with the CEO to plan the future progress of GoYogi. This individual will record meeting minutes and ensure synchronization within the board. We are seeking individuals with great communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Director of Public Relations

The Director of Public Relations is responsible for GoYogi social media platforms, leading the GoYogi Media Team, and coordinating with graphic designers, the blog manager, and photo/video editor to create and post media content. We are seeking individuals with strong leadership skills, experience with social media, and basic exposure to graphic design software like Canva or Photoshop. This person is responsible for directing photo/video editors and ensuring coverage at our events and program sites. This director will work closely with all of the Student Board, organizing the media designing needs of all officers. Individuals who enjoy web/media design and good computer skills are highly preferred.

Director of Finance

 The Director of Finance is responsible for GoYogi’s financial forecasting and planning. This person will look into funding opportunities for GoYogi and create a system for managing funds. This director will set up fundraisers, learn and conduct grant writing, and understand how to organize finances and budgets within a non-profit. Individuals who enjoy finance, accounting, or mathematics are highly preferred.

Director of Outreach

The Director of Outreach is an essential role to helping GoYogi make the biggest impact it can in the community. This includes working with the Student Board to make arrangements for the following years and communicating with schools to set-up the GoYogi Program. Responsibilities include connecting with other nonprofits and student organizations to build connections, create collaborations and partnerships, creating projects with national mental health initiatives, and contacting speakers for future events. This individual should have experience with building connections in the greater community. This individual should be well versed in email communications and developing strong community connections. The Director of Outreach will also work with volunteer organizations, other non-profits, schools, and workplaces, to communicate our programs and events, as well as supporting/starting new programs across the country.
